This gem of a track came out of nowhere while listening to Simon Harrison’s Basic Soul Podcast weekly podcast. Mike City, one of the most sought after producers in R&B has turned to the other side of the production puzzle, by putting his vocal talents on a track. His most notable productions were with Carl Thomas on “I Wish,” Sunshine Anderson‘s “Heard It All Before,” Brandy‘s “Full Moon” and “One Woman Man” with Dave Hollister; his list of accomplishments in music is long! What makes him extraordinary in what he does, is being an artist first, then a producer second. Being a huge fan of the house group Ten City, he earned the moniker of Mike City, so it’s no surprise his self-release would be a house song. With the smooth and soulful vocals of Faith Evans, we have “When I Luv” that also gets a sprinkle of love from renowned producer and DJ Kenny Dope. The original has a strong funk base, while Kenny Dope turns it into a fuller house music jam. Check it out below. The single featuring the original and Kenny Dope mix releases on Friday, and it’s pure fire!
