Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge, and Me [Trailer]

Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge, and Me
After the success of the movie Straight Outta Compton last year, it is no surprise that a counter story would surface a year later. This one, from unsung artist Michel’le, who was once fiance to heavy weight producer, Dr. Dre and mother to his first born child. And then after Dr. Dre, she married to music executive and former football player, Suge Knight for eight years.

Dr. Dre, not only known for his music and business acumen, in the 90s it became public how he abused and assaulted women, with the most public being MTV Host Dee Barnes, who Dre attacked in a nightclub by dragging her by the hair, while punching and kicking her down a staircase. If he was capable of doing that to a mere stranger, Michel’le’s Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge, and Me may feel like watching an more recent reenactment of Ike and Tina Turner in What’s Love Got to Do With It.

Michel’le was a cast member on TV One’s Hollywood Divas, where she unraveled on screen to the point of seeking psychiatric help. It is our hope through producing this film, she gains strength from this process.

Lifetime will air October 15th. Check your local listings for times.
