“One the Move” is definitely apropos to Myele Manzanza‘s life. After serving as the drummer of the seriously dope New Zealand based group Electric Wire Hustle for the past 6 years, Manzanza is now at the juncture to branch out as a solo artist. This is sad news as his contribution to EWH was a distinct part of their unique in sound. Let’s hope the split is simply a hiatus, rather than a point of no return.
“One the Move” is his debut single featuring Auckland-based soul singer Rachel Fraser in a bass/drum driven groove. The video, directed by Michael Hobbs of I Had Hippy Parents has each musician performing with their eyes close, which could be symbolic of intuition, moving from within, without distraction. A very nice visual piece. Check it out below. Manzanza‘s solo album One is scheduled to release in September of this year on BBE (UK).
