Eagle Nebula is a name that has been floating around in many capacities for a long time. Inglewood, California native, now Brooklyn resident, this multi-talented sister is no joke. Her critically acclaimed debut, Cosmic Headphones, was produced by Georgia Anne Muldrow and released on her label, Espistrophik Peace Sound. She has shared the stage with a slew of notable artists in hip hop from Pharoah Monch, Black Thought, Dead Prez, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Pete Rock, Bahamadia, to name a few.
Nebula has a delivery that’s strong and forces you to pay attention and her choice of beats, which tend to have hard basslines and solid drums, compliment her vocal style as her rhymes often flow in layers.
The LoveBomb opens with “Black Betty 2010” and is exactly what its title connotes – Black Betty has been remixed; no longer a woman who flaunts her sexuality, batting her eyelashes, with the feet turned in for a booty pose — she is now a force to be reckoned with, and Nebula’s vocal layering acts in Betty’s defense.
For the LoveBomb EP, Eagle Nebula teams with producer and champion drummer, Daru Jones; a perfect pairing as Jones’s production brings an element to funk with hard drums. The only negative with LoveBomb is, it leaves you wanting MORE; it’s only 4 tracks! LoveBomb is available for free download on Bandcamp here.
