Strangely enough, I hadn’t heard of Philipino, Bay Area based producer Green Tea before hearing his new album — and this guy has been around the block for a bit. Starting off his career as a mobile DJ and then landing the opportunity to accompany Kero One on his Japanese Tour, it is no surprise that his experimental sounds would appeal to electronic, new jazz, and hip hop heads alike. In the late 90s, he formed the group Soul in the Hole, which comprised of long-time friends who shared similar ideals in music, that collaborated with A-Trak, Cut Chemist, Dwele, Kenny Dope, and Masters at Work. Places + Spaces is a mix of mid-tempo to dance instrumentals, perfect for those Sunday afternoons when you’ve got a mound of things to do and need something to motivate you to do it. Listen to a couple of the songs below and watlz those fingers over to Amazon to get yourself a copy.
