Vaiper & Shmekla are Cafeteria – “Cafeteria Inn Legend” (Audio)
I so happened to come across “Cafeteria” through my web travels (I’m a sucker for cool album cover concepts) and was pleasantly surprised by it. Shmekla & Vaiper are the group leaders of the Despotin’ Fam, who broke into the scene in 2006 with Kitos Krano Puses, which later became a Lithuanian hip hop classic. Winning the A.L.T. Award (an alternative music award) for Best Hip Hop project, gaining a nomination for best group, and Viaper for Best Beat Maker at the Lithuanian Hip Hop Awards, these guys have been steadily working. They’ve collaborated with Dj Vadim Yarah Bravo, Afu Ra, Jeru the Damaja, and Killa Kela. With “Cafeteria Inn Legend” the duo go under the pseudonym of Cafeteria and incorporate nu-jazz, broken beat, dubstep, and futuristic sound influences; a little different to their past works. It’s a solid album of instrumentals and minimal vocals. I’m digging it. Check it out below.
