“Nothing Matters” is so arresting, from Nigerian-German singer, Nneka‘s vocals, that are a perfect match for Tricky‘s abstract productions, to the visual that seem to capture the essence of London’s concrete jungles. Being from South London, I’ll go out on a whim and say one of the estates featured is Angel Town, in Brixton. The grey hues used in the video to show the structured dwellings add to the song’s stark contrast, of nothing mattering, living in a place where they don’t matter, with the woman’s hands gesturing shattered broken hearts. Very powerful. Check out the video below.
False Idols marks Tricky‘s tenth solo album, with this release on his independent label False Idols through !K7 Records. Featured guests include Peter Silberman (of The Antlers), Fifi Rong, and Francesca Belmonte and is available on iTunes. It is everything you would expect and more!
