Quadron Perform at Dominion, NYC (Live Video)

Sunday, September 4th, 2011

We’ve been talking about Quadron for a while and finally got the chance to catch them live in New York City. Performing before an intimate audience at New York’s Dominion on Thursday, September 1st, lead singer Coco joked about them not having new material, which wasn’t a problem, as their self-entitled debut is rock solid. Now on Plug Research, we will hear more from Coco and Robin, especially being that they informed us of purchasing one-way air tickets. If you missed the show, check out the video below. You’ll want to hear more, so here are links to purchase their album from their label Plug Research or from iTunes.

Quadron – “Average Fruit” (BUG Punch UP Remix)

Sunday, November 21st, 2010

It’s initiatives like these that make me love the democratic and organic nature of the Internet, and why I work by trade in this environment. Plug Research and Quadron have set the task for producers to remix their single, “Average Fruit” with the prize being studio time with Robin Hannibal and Coco, and their remix to be featured on Quadron‘s forthcoming EP. Submissions are uploaded to this Soundcloud page. The remixes are fantastic and show just how diverse Quadron‘s audience is. Here’s one of my favourites from by UK producer BUG. He houses the tune up a little, then adds a dirty bass groove as the song progresses. Rotation worthy! Check it out below, then head over to Soundcloud to hear other submissions. Leave comments to helps Quadron in their decision making. Deadline is tomorrow, November 22. And kudos to the artist who did the artwork for the BUG Punch Up Remix cover!

Quadron – “Simili Life” (Video)

Friday, November 12th, 2010

I’ve been steadily listening to the sounds of Quadron for almost a year now, and have not grown tired of their sound. Just finishing up their US tour, sharing the stage with the likes for Bilal and the boys from New Zealand Electric Wire Hustle, the underground community are all over Quadron.

Here, with the forth video from their self entitled debut album is “Simili“, my favourite track off the album. The video highlights, that despite the odds of things working out, one thing that is certain, you have self. A very redemptive and positive way to move on from a breakup. Check it out below. And if you don’t own the CD, get it here!

Danish Duo “Quadron” (Video)

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Taking a late pass on this band but I’ll assume many of my readers missed this band as well. My main assertion here is that the Swedes are running it musically at the moment. Danish group Quadron are Coco and Robin, who were both former members of the soul collective Boom Clap Bachelors, and who released an album in 2008 called Kort Før Dine Læber. From being in the group, Robin and Coco began to collaborate and formed Quadron. Lead singer Coco is only 21-years-old and already sounds like a seasoned artist. Her voice is delicately sweet, where she glides through each song like a lullaby. It’s really beautiful. Robin Hannibal is no stranger to music and future sounds, collaborating with Noboby Beats the Beats, Stones Throw artist, Aloe Blacc, O’mas Keith from SA-RA, Wally Badarou (Talking Heads, Grace Jones), Plant Life, Eric Sermon, Pharrell Williams. Their album, which was release last year, will be released in the US in March 2010 but is available on iTunes now. Check out the video for the single “Pressure” below and listen to “Simili,” taken from the album. Pure niceness!
