JJ DOOM – “Bookhead” [Videos]

And there we were thinking that the JJ DOOM collaborative project from MF DOOM and Jneiro Jarel was a one-off, aftter the release of Keys to the Kuffs last summer, however, their moniker continues with this new single “Bookhead.” MF DOOM, always fascinating with the obscurity of not revealing his face to remove preconceptions from happening and to allow his music and lyrics to be heard clearly. For the “Bookhead” video, this concept is played upon further, using a surveillance mirror reflecting the world DOOM sees, right before us — us looking in, but in reflecting us. Directed by visual artist Steve “ESPO” Powers, where his concept was purely experimental, by putting the mirrored mask on DOOM and seeing what would transform and what we get is “strange.” Mission accomplished. After watching the video below, check out the behind-the-scenes footage and interview with ESPO and DOOM on the actual process.

Additionally, JJ DOOM will be releasing Keys to the Kuffs extended version, the Butter Edition available July 8th on Lex Records. The Butter Edition will include new songs and remixes from Dave Sitek (TV on the Radio), Beck, and hip hop producer Clams Casino.
