Exclusive Interview with Singer, Res (Video)
Ten years ago, Res hit us with her solo debut How I Do—a seminal album, which was far ahead of its time when it was released! The past year and a half, we have seen her in the group Idle Warship with Talib Kweli, and she also released her second album, Black.Girls.Rock. independently. Now on the verge of hitting us with some amazing music this year, Muphoric Sounds was able to catch Res live at Nona Hendryx‘s monthly “Unfiltered Music” series at SOB‘s, March 25, 2010. After seeing her live, we were blown away by how beautiful Res‘s voice is. In a way, the production of her debut album down played her vocal ability. This woman can truly SING! Her rich bravado is reminiscent of the legendary Stevie Nicks, then add a little soul, gives Res a unique and forever fresh vocal style.
Check out the interview below, which documents the event and showcases Res in action; a very cool woman. Hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it! For Vimeo users, you can view the video here.

Good job MuphoricSounds on Res and a second of many to come. Bless

REESE Love
Aww, thanks Reese! I really appreciate hearing that from YOU! xx
I love Res and have been waiting for her to put out more music. All she has to do is go into the studio and sing, play and I will buy it. Res has a special something that can’t be copied or reproduced or pigeon holed. All Res has to do for me is stick with pure artists and not people with formulas for what sells and she will reach across generations as an icon. Her knowledge of self is so evident in her music that she can transcend the categorization that America loves to trap artists in. It is those artists who resist and remain true to themselves that pull generations over the hump into the next phase of their evolution. Those on the paper chase will come, go and be forgotten, I think Res will stay with us and always remain. Whatever the genre Res knows that it all emanates from one source and she is one with that and I love that.
Yes! I got to see her perform quite a bit last year and she truly has a beautiful voice and stays true to her craft. She's not going anywhere! Thanks for stopping by!
She's single? Not for long, I bet.
Lol she'll get snatched up in no time; very cool person.
