Chance The Rapper Launches Radio Request Service for Fans

Independent recording artist, Chance The Rapper launched a website for fans to send requests to their local radio station to have the rapper’s music from his latest album Coloring Book played on the radio. Fans visit the RapperRadio.com website and enter their city, and a list of the local urban radio station are shown. After selecting the station, the site generates a tweet to the station and its DJ, requesting that they play either “No Problem” featuring Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz or “Summer Friends” featuring Jeremih and Francis & the Lights. Chance says, “The radio is like a huge listening party for people of all demographics to get in tune. In those moments it’s mad ppl in harmony.” The service is available in Canada, Australia, the UK, Sweden, Germany, France, Ireland, and the Netherlands. It has always been a challenge for independent artists to receive radio play and with this initiative, it brings humanity and democracy into the promotional aspect of music, where the facilitators respond positively to their listening audience by playing what they want to hear. Hope Chance owns the template for this site, as it could be another revenue stream as other artists follow suit.
