Malachi Rivers – “Wind Parade” feat. Emily Braden (Download)

Harlem based, Maryland born rapper Malachi Rivers has been steadily doing his thing since 2010, releasing his debut single “Cloud 9” featuring UK singer Maria Bentley, who met via social media. Last year, he released his debut EP Stereo Sound Escape and now returns with his latest single “Wind Parade.” Rivers says, “I wanted a song that made people feel the way I feel when I hear DJ Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince’s “Summertime.” That song always makes me feel good and lets me know it’s time to enjoy life. I even wanted to capture the essence of his chill laid black flow on that song.” And Rivers most certainly has done that. Using jazz legend, Donald Byrd’s “Wind Parade,” which is the embodiment of summer, Rivers‘ opening line to the song is “I wanna walk buck nekked with my sneakers on,” sets the tone of the track – which is to be free as a bird. With Chicago producer JoVia Armstrong on the beat and Emily Bradley singing the hook and giving the track a great jazz scat outro, “Wind Parade” is like sprinkles of gold dust. Check it out below.

Malachi Rivers will be having a single release and birthday party at Viktor & Spoils (105 Rivington Street) on Thursday, August 15th from 10PM – 3AM. RSVPs to RSVP@thejdotagency.com
